True Colors

Choosing the right color for your rooms may be one of the most important and stressful jobs you’ll ever have to do. Since you and your family will spend a lot of time inside these rooms, you have to choose colors that are will please everybody (for the public areas, especially), and will go well with the furniture. Color can also affect one’s mood, so choosing the right colors according to the room’s use is a must. Bedrooms, for example, are meant to be restful sanctuaries, so cool colors like blue and green may help you relax better. Choosing the right shade means more work. You might like blue, but there are a lot of shades of blue, and choosing navy blue might make your room seem darker and smaller, rather than the light, airy feel you wanted. You also have to know the difference between the background color (for walls) and accent colors. Background colors in general are neutral, lighter shades while accent colors are brighter or darker shades. Lastly, knowing that the paint you’ve chosen will have to last you several years, means you have to be careful to choose colors that will grow along with your family.
