Garage Safety

garageMost of us have nice garages where we park our cars and more serving as additional storage for your yard stuff and other nasties you may not want in your house. The many stuff we have in our garage that is used in the yard and for the car are quite hazardous so care and consideration should be taken to heart to avoid accidents with these harsh chemicals. Anti-freeze is an enticing and attractive chemical that looks nice to kids yet they are one of the most poisonous auto fluids around. They along with other fluids and materials should be stored on the highest shelves along with yard chemicals so kids cannot get to them. Yard equipment are also quite dangerous with sharp blades and often gasoline in them, they should be fenced off with temporary fencing materials made of either metal mesh or plastic ones that are tough enough to prevent tampering with. Keep them under lock to avoid accidental access by children.
Discipline in the garage should also be developed and ample ventilation installed to vent auto fumes for they are poisonous and can kill. Leave the car running in the garage as little a time as possible to minimize the risk of carbon monoxide accumulating inside. Positive ventilation has powerful fans forcing air into the enclosed space forcing the gasses out through vent holes minimizing the risks. If you have space for an external shed, get one installed so you can store flammable liquids such as gas for the generator out of the garage which is more than often attached to the house reducing the risk of fire.
